Ariadne presented the big surprise of the '88 season so far. All 35 watercolours by the English artist Frederick J. Featham were as delightful as Cretan honey, and you can't get enough of them! The great painter-teacher has masterfully adopted the English watercolour technique and is a worthy successor to the work of his great compatriots, Blake, Constable and Turner!!! It is also amazing how he has married the British School of Watercolour with the Cretan countryside and nature in general. A resident of Rethymno for 15 years, Frederick Featham, apart from his high craftsmanship, also gives a lesson in morality and modesty. For while he is so talented, he lives in seclusion and at the same time charges so little for his fabulous masterpieces.
